Joe Cardona, New England Patriots' long snapper, was named the 2023 USAA Salute to Service award winner.

Cardona, a lieutenant from the Naval Academy, won the award over competitors Aaron Jones and George Kittle.

The award recognizes outstanding efforts by NFL members to honor and support the military community.

Cardona, who will be honored at NFL Honors, wore his Navy uniform and two Super Bowl rings during interviews.

During his rookie season with the Patriots, Cardona balanced a second full-time job in the Navy at the Naval Academy Preparatory School.

Cardona's military dedication led to promotions, including overseeing logistical needs for 500 sailors as a department head.

Grateful for the New England Patriots' support, Cardona aims to be a model for future players interested in military service.

USAA will contribute $25,000 in Cardona’s honor to military aid societies, with the NFL Foundation matching the donation for Cardona’s chosen military charity.
