Disney unveiled the opening timeframe for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, a retheme of Splash Mountain, almost four years after the initial announcement.

Initially projected for a simultaneous late 2024 opening at both resorts, Disney's latest announcement on Mardi Gras signifies an accelerated timeline.

The new audio-animatronic of Princess Tiana for the attraction was revealed by Walt Disney Imagineering in a video, showcasing fluid arm movements, talking abilities, and head and body rotation.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure promises numerous audio-animatronics featuring characters from "The Princess and the Frog" and new critters created specifically for the attraction.

Set after the events of the film, the attraction follows Tiana as she prepares for a Mardi Gras celebration in the bayou, showcasing a co-op called Tiana’s Foods in a new Splash Mountain incarnation.

The ride's immersive experience includes the scent of beignets in the queue and pays tribute to the spirit of New Orleans, drawing inspiration from Chef Leah Chase of Dooky Chase's Restaurant.

Splash Mountain's retheming was initiated in June 2020, distancing itself from its original inspiration, "Song of the South," criticized for its portrayal of plantation life, and aligning with Disney's commitment to cultural sensitivity.
